Customer Review: the original "no-stick" pan

My last one got misplaced in a move and, quite frankly, I find cooking without a cast-iron fry pan, somewhat less than perfect. These were the first "non-stick" pans and, unlike the modern versions, don't wear out, while depositing a steady supply of plastic in your food.
Cast iron distributes heat more evenly, so even if you are forced to cook on an electric stove, you have better control over your cooking temperatures. If you get a preseasoned pan, you should clean it up and season it yourself. After that, you can easily maintain the cooking surface with a copper scouring pad and some paper towels.
